Ocwen, New Jersey Citizen Action and the NAACP Working Together To New Jersey Homeowners Better Afford Their Homes

August 15th event will allow Ocwen customers to receive personal assistance with their home mortgage

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ocwen Financial Corporation (NYSE:OCN), New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA), and the New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP (NJ NAACP) are again teaming up on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the Appian Way in Orange, New Jersey, to help Ocwen customers explore available solutions to make their mortgage payments more affordable.

Homeowners are invited to join NJCA, Ocwen, and the NJ NAACP for a complimentary dinner and an informative presentation on how NJCA's free HUD-certified Loan Counseling Program can help homeowners, who are having difficulty paying their mortgages, find the right mortgage solution.

The event is exclusively for Ocwen customers and will include information regarding state and local resources that may assist borrowers with making their mortgages more affordable. Registration for the event is required.

Event attendees will have the opportunity to access free counseling services and talk directly with Ocwen Home Retention Agents about their mortgage at the event.

"New Jersey Citizen Action is focused on empowering New Jersey residents, especially low- and moderate-income individuals, to take control of their economic futures,” said Phyllis Salowe-Kaye, Executive Director of NJCA. “By joining forces with Ocwen and the NAACP at the local level, New Jersey borrowers can work one-on-one with trusted advisors to find the right mortgage solution to help them better afford their homes. This event is a first step, and we urge all of Ocwen’s New Jersey customers in need of help to attend.”

Bruce E. Davis, NJ NAACP Economic Development Chairman commented, “Improving the affordability of homeownership is an important cornerstone of our efforts to enhance financial stability for minority borrowers and communities. Working alongside Ocwen and NJCA will allow the NAACP to directly reach homeowners who are experiencing financial difficulties and provide counseling and support to remain homeowners.”

“Our history with NJCA and the NAACP clearly demonstrates that borrowers are more effectively served when we work together,” said Jill Showell, Senior Vice President of Government and Community Relations at Ocwen. “With the right guidance and loan modifications solutions, we can help New Jersey homeowners improve their financial situations and remain in their homes and communities.”

Homeowners who attend the event will be encouraged to schedule a one-on-one appointment with a NJCA housing counselor. Counselors will provide a free and confidential assessment, and guidance through the necessary next steps towards a possible solution with Ocwen. NJCA counselors will be available to:

  • Facilitate communication with Ocwen's home retention agents.
  • Assist borrowers as they prepare their Request for Mortgage Assistance (RMA) application.
  • Determine whether borrowers are eligible for any state or federal foreclosure assistance programs.
  • Listen and advise homeowners on possible mortgage solutions depending on their unique situations.

Ocwen currently services more than 39,600 loans in New Jersey.
